also have at least recently had a fascination with christian religious art (possibly because the art history we've had of late the periods are dominated by it), despite being Jewish. currently especially fascinated by churches.

I totally share your liking to religious art. I love going to orthodox churches. It's not only the icons, but I also love their music.
It all makes me wish I was a part of that.

i like the double-irised eyes and colors!

Because it's GOD'S painting of course. Gosh. No pointing aloud. (totally kidding- i have no religion either) I've always enjoyed the art in churches as well. I went to Germany and some of their catholic churches are so stunning.
